Spacer cut out for short limbsFor shorter limbs, a prosthetist can also insert a spacer into the base of the prosthesis with the enclosed 3M tape. Do not trim the top AND use a spacer- pick one method or the other. If using a spacer, the bottom of the back flap can be trimmed using heavy duty cutters to allow the back panel to squeeze the limb better.

Modification for when limb shrinks- removing back flapIf the patient is buckling the prosthesis and the flap is running into the buckle or hooks, you can remove the flap or trim the bottom portion. This will enable the prosthesis to be buckled tighter and avoid running into the hook or buckle.
